stews, Soups, fried chicken and more – that’s what comes out of my southern cuisine every week. When I saw the new Paula Deen kitchen accessories I had to have it! I am used to using cast iron and copper, and purchased this set mainly because of the Paula Deen label.
I have been using this for several months in our little beach cottage kitchen. There are some things I quite like about the set – and improved others that I would like to see. I would classify our use as mild to moderate, with the pots and pans for optimal use.
Advantages:
I adore the color of this – they have a robin’s egg blue painted on the outside and handle and look great in the kitchen. I like that everything fits well and that all the pots have matching lid. As for cooking, is the interior of a coated aluminum roomates works well for liquids such as soup and pasta. The pans themselves have an interesting design – the tips of th epans inclination inwards, so things seem better to stay inside and not overflow when boiling.
The Paula Deen cookware sets that I come with generously sized skillets – the largest one has a fitted lid, making it perfect for frying chicken and sauteing vegetables. The non-stick surface really works – I do not have to spray the pans to use them, and do not add too much additional oil when sauteing.
Cons:
While I change the color and the shape of this love, I do not think they are ideal for heavy use. In the three months since I bought the Paula Deen cookware, are the two pieces that I most often use already some signs of wear. The medium skillet bad age in particular – I ue it a lot and found guilty, put it in the dishwasher, so that may have contributed to the problem.
The handles of the pots and pans are very heavy – a little too heavy. While I want to feel the weight and quality of the pots, the heavy handles can cuase they cant on the burner when you are cooking with small amounts – so one-sided cooks more thoroughly than the other. This is minor, but worth mentioning, especially if you are preparing to purchase only one or two people cause as cooking small amounts seems to tip the pan a little.
Overall, I am satisfied with the purchase, the pans look great and I expect that several seasons out of them – I love a coordinated set in the kitchen. To be used for part-time or light, the Paula Deen Cookware Enamel is a good investment.
